RESTORATION OF ORNAMENTS OF TRADITIONAL BUILDINGS

The holding of this day is part of the  efforts made by the Foundation, through the Academy of Traditional Arts, to shed light on the wealth and vulnerability of Morocco's architectural heritage, to debate the contemporary approach to the craft, restorer and explore the huge needs to be filled in terms of training in this area.
 
Several themes and topics were discussed during this day: Restoration of wood (minbars of the Andalusian mosque and the Bouanania medarsa in Fez, painted ceiling of the Ben Youssef medersa of Marrakech), conservation-restoration of polychrome, stone and plaster restoration techniques, study on the zelliges of the Saadian monuments of Marrakech, application to zelliges the techniques of restoration of the mosaic, pathology of the interfaces between wall and architectural ornaments.
