The training in calligraphy given at the Academy lasts two years which are divided into 4 semesters. This training is recognized by a "certificate of completion of calligraphy training at the Academy of Traditional Arts" with one of two options:

  • Arabic calligraphy
  • Decorative art or ornament

The curriculum is organized in:

  • Basic modules
  • Opening modules
  • Modules in History of Art and Civilizations
  • Workshops

The teaching staff of the calligraphy course of study is composed as follows:

  • Moroccan and foreign calligraphers among the most qualified teachers of Arabic calligraphy;
  • University professors;
  • Language teachers;
  • Computer teachers.

The calligraphy training ends with the completion of an end-of-study project including a bibliographical research on a subject of Moroccan or oriental calligraphy or ornaments, according to the choice of the student, under the supervision of a specialized teacher.

Each student also achieves a work of synthesis in Moroccan calligraphy in the form of a calligraphic ornament or a painting associating calligraphy and ornaments, using accredited styles in calligraphic art that highlight the acquired abilities of the student during his/her training period.
