The training in calligraphy given at the Academy lasts two years which are divided into 4 semesters. This training is recognized by a "certificate of completion of calligraphy training at the Academy of Traditional Arts" with one of two options:
- Arabic calligraphy
- Decorative art or ornament
The curriculum is organized in:
- Basic modules
- Opening modules
- Modules in History of Art and Civilizations
- Workshops
The teaching staff of the calligraphy course of study is composed as follows:
- Moroccan and foreign calligraphers among the most qualified teachers of Arabic calligraphy;
- University professors;
- Language teachers;
- Computer teachers.
The calligraphy training ends with the completion of an end-of-study project including a bibliographical research on a subject of Moroccan or oriental calligraphy or ornaments, according to the choice of the student, under the supervision of a specialized teacher.
Each student also achieves a work of synthesis in Moroccan calligraphy in the form of a calligraphic ornament or a painting associating calligraphy and ornaments, using accredited styles in calligraphic art that highlight the acquired abilities of the student during his/her training period.
